Small business cybersecurity

Small businesses do not get attacked because someone chose them. They get caught by something automated that sweeps everything, and the damage lands on a company with no security team and no plan for the morning after. What actually helps is unglamorous: protection on every machine, someone watching alerts around the clock, multi-factor authentication, and a backup you have tested.

Antivirus on its own stopped being enough years ago

Modern protection watches behaviour rather than matching known files, because the file is new every time. The important part is not the software, it is that an alert at two in the morning reaches a human who does something about it.

A 24/7 security operations centre is the difference

Software that detects something at 2am and emails you is not protection, it is a notification. We put a monitored service behind every machine so triage happens whether or not anyone here is awake, which is also what makes it affordable for a small business.

The three things that cause most small business incidents

An account without multi-factor authentication, a machine missing months of updates, and a person clicking something convincing. Product solves the first two. The third needs a culture where staff can say they clicked it without being made to feel stupid.

What we do not do

We do not sell fear, and we do not quote a compliance framework at a nine person company that does not need one. If you do handle defence contracts or regulated data, that is a different conversation and a different company of ours.

Common questions

We are small. Are we really a target?
You are not a target, you are in range, and that is worse because nobody chose to spare you. Automated attacks do not check how big you are before trying the door.
What happens when something is detected?
It is triaged by a monitored security team around the clock, and the machine can be isolated from the network immediately if needed. You get told what happened and what was done, in plain language.
Does this replace our cyber insurance?
No, and increasingly insurers ask what controls you have before they will quote. Having multi-factor authentication, monitored protection and tested backups usually changes both whether you are covered and what it costs.
Do you handle CMMC or defence compliance?
Not under this brand. That work is deliberately kept separate and we will point you at it rather than pretend a small business plan covers it.
How much does this add per machine?
Less than most people expect, and it is included in the monthly plans rather than sold as an upsell after something goes wrong.

Cybersecurity and monitoring by town

Each page covers what we typically find in that town, because a warehouse off Route 28 and a five person firm on Maple Avenue do not have the same problem.

Start with a phone call

Fifteen minutes. You describe what is annoying you and we tell you whether we are the right fit.

No sales sequence. One human calls you back.
